There is life outside of the US, something that the film makers seem to have missed. And they never show a realistic ending either - we all know that if the electricity went off and the supermarkets stopped restocking, it would take roughly 3 weeks for society to entirely dissolve, as seen in New Orleans. Give it 2 months and we'd probably be eating each other but no, we never see that do we, it's always attractive people tentatively emerging into a new landscape looking gorgeous but with a couple of soot smudges on the forehead. And there's always too much science and not enough stuff getting destroyed for my liking.
