Why is it that one of the most disapproving expressions in the English language is ‘I completely support your right to [insert action with which the speaker disagrees]‘ ?
Why is it that one of the most disapproving expressions in the English language is ‘I completely support your right to [insert action with which the speaker disagrees]‘ ?
Because we are social animals and actually seek the approval of our friends / mates / relations? This actually appears to show that our correspondent has thought about our proposed action rationally and still disagrees with it.
Other signs of disapproval can be closer to the childrens’ reflexive “yuck” at anything green appearing on their dinner plate, or (politics especially) compared to the inbred rituals of different tribes.
Or not, as the case may be.
